Our Pastor

The Reverend Kippie Carl Brown, B.A., M. Div.

The Reverend Kippie C. Brown, at the age of sixteen viewed preaching as the most important role in developing the lives of human being. Having grown up in the Baptist tradition in Lake City, South Carolina, he witnessed the enormous attention given to evangelism, through the preached word, which pricked the conscience of the members of the congregation to “live again.”
It was not until early adulthood, when he stood firm in his faith and accepted his call into the ministry. It was then that he realized that true discipleship is an encounter with Christ which permeates a transformation. But, true discipleship, involves openness to the future and the expectation that we will change as we walk closer and closer with God.
He graduated from Lake City High School in 1991. He continued his studies and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Pastoral Ministry, from Morris College, graduating Cum Laude and a Master of Divinity concentrating in Homiletics and Pastoral Care and Counseling, from the Interdenominational Theological Center, in Atlanta, Georgia. During his matriculation at ITC, he served on the Morehouse School of Religion (MSR) Late Night Committee, the Student Christian League Executive Board, for three consecutive years he was awarded the MSR and Sandy L. Ray Preaching Award, the MSR President Leadership Award and has received outstanding achievement awards for his hard work and dedication to ministry.
During his pastoring, Reverend Brown has served on the Board of Commissioners for New Church Membership, Pee Dee Baptist Association, South Carolina E&M Convention, Late-Night Chair for Evangelism, New Jersey Ministerial Alliance, New Jersey Christian Fellowship Association, and the New Jersey General Baptist Convention. He is also a member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
He is the former Pastor of Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church in Newark, New Jersey. Prior to that appointment he served at New Providence Missionary Baptist Church in Darlington, SC and Friendship #2 Baptist in Nichols, SC. His consistent obedience to God is continuing to take him to new heights.
Currently he is the Senior Pastor of the historic Springfield Baptist Church, downtown Greenville, South Carolina. His work is evident throughout the Upstate of South Carolina where he sits on the Urban League of the Upstate Board of Directors, he is an alumnus of the Furman University Riley Institute Diversity Leadership Initiative and the Greenville Chamber’s Leadership Greenville. In August of 2016, he completed a chaplain residency for the Greenville Health System, where he served as a community pastor for individuals in need of spiritual guidance. On the state level, he serves as Co-Chair of the Young Pastors Division of SC Education and Missionary Convention and Staff Member of the SC Congress of Christian Education. He also has been selected as a Liberty Fellows, Class of 2018.
He is married to his high school sweetheart, Tarsha Spears and they are the proud parents of two beautiful daughters Kyrah and Kennedy.
His favorite scripture is: “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not” (Galatians 6:9). Because he is committed to the call to serve, Reverend Brown has been blessed with a moving passion to willingly serve all mankind with the simple motto: to willingly serve all mankind with the simple motto, “If you take care of God’s business, God will taking care of your business.”
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to preach the gospel” Luke 4:18
